On 14 January 2027, the 124th ZuckerBäckerball once again extends its most cordial invitation to an unforgettable evening at the Imperial Hofburg Palace in Vienna. Combining time-honored Viennese tradition, exquisite dance art, and refined confectionery delights, the grand ball night will be officially inaugurated at 9:00 PM with the ceremonial opening procession in the Grand hall, Festsaal.
Under the direction of Mr. Franzen and Mr. Fränzl, the Opening Committee of the Viennese Dance Schools is seeking enthusiastic dancers to grace the ballroom floor with the opening waltz for this magnificent occasion. Couples up to 30 years of age are most cordially invited to participate in the ball's grand opening.
Registration
To ensure a flawless performance for the upcoming ball night, participation comprises an audition, two rehearsals, a positioning rehearsal, and a dress rehearsal. The steps to join are as follows:
Registration is conducted online directly via the website of the Viennese Dance Schools.
Audition
The audition will take place on Saturday, 12 December 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the premises of the Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes (Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna). Kindly bring your own ballroom shoes.
During the audition, couples will be assigned to either Group 1 or Group 2 for the subsequent rehearsals. A requirement for participation is a proficient mastery of the Right Waltz with half-turns. Naturally, couples proficient in the Left Waltz and Fleckerl turns are particularly welcome.
Kindly bring a form of identification (such as a passport, identity card, driver's license, or student ID) with you to the audition.
Rehearsals
In addition to the audition, two mandatory rehearsals will take place. Both will likewise be held at the Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes (Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna).
1st Rehearsal: Saturday, 9 January 2027
Group 1: 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Group 2: 12:00 PM – 1:45 PM
2nd Rehearsal: Sunday, 10 January 2027
Group 1: 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Group 2: 12:00 PM – 1:45 PM
The positioning rehearsal and the dress rehearsal will take place directly at the Imperial Hofburg Palace at Heldenplatz.
Positioning Rehearsal: Monday, 11 January 2027
Admission: 6:00 PM
Commencement: 7:00 PM
Conclusion: 9:00 PM at the latest
Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, January 14, 2027
Admission: 5:00 PM
Commencement: 6:00 PM (immediately preceding the ball)
Dress Code & Requirements
For the Audition and both Rehearsals:
Ladies: Black skirt and white blouse / Ballroom shoes (with heels)
Gentlemen: Black dress trousers and white shirt / Ballroom shoes
For the Ball Night and the Dress Rehearsal:
Ladies: Floor-length white evening gown, white gloves, and white or silver shoes (with heels)
Gentlemen: Black tuxedo or suit, white shirt, black bow tie, white gloves, and black dress shoes
Following the opening dance, ladies are welcome to change their attire; however, we kindly request a floor-length evening gown rather than a cocktail dress.
