To participate in the ball’s opening, debutantes and debutants shall proceed through three elegant stages: registration, pre-ball dancing, and rehearsals.

REGISTRATION

Registration is conducted through a dance school; hence, attendance at a dance school is a prerequisite. Precise details will be graciously provided via e-mail by the Directors of the Opening Committee of the Viennese Dance Schools, Mr. Franzen or Mr. Fränzl.

AUDITION

The pre-ball dancing shall take place on Saturday, 13 December 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00, at the Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes, Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna.

The dress code is prescribed: ladies are to wear a black skirt and white blouse, gentlemen black trousers and a white shirt. Kindly bring your own dance shoes; ladies are requested to wear heeled shoes.

We happily welcome pairs who have reverse (left) waltz and/or Fleckerlwaltz experience.

REHEARSALS

Following the audition, additional rehearsals shall be held in preparation for the 123rd ZuckerBäckerball.

First rehearsal: Saturday, 10 January 2026

Second rehearsal: Sunday, 11 January 2026

On both days, Group 1 will dance from 10:00 to 11:45, and Group 2 from 12:00 to 13:45. Both sessions will take place at the Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes, Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna.

The stage rehearsal shall occur on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, at the Wiener Hofburg, Heldenplatz. Doors open at 18:00, the rehearsal begins at 19:00 and concludes no later than 21:00.

The final rehearsal on the evening of the ball, Thursday, 15 January 2026, shall also take place in the Hofburg. Doors open at 17:00, and the rehearsal begins at 18:00.

DRESS CODE

The dress code for all rehearsals corresponds to that of the pre-ball dancing.

On the evening of the ball, ladies are requested to wear a full-length white evening gown, white gloves, and white or silver heeled shoes. Gentlemen are asked to appear in a black tuxedo (or, if necessary, a black suit) with a white shirt, black bow tie, white gloves, and black shoes.

Debutantes and debutants are expected to appear in full ball attire already at the final rehearsal.

After the opening, ladies are to maintain floor-length evening gowns (cocktail dresses are not appropriate).
